End of an Era?

Is this the End for The Big 3?

The bad luck of Friday the 13th, caught up with the San Antonio Spurs this past week as they were knocked out of the 2016 NBA Playoffs by the Oklahoma City Thunder. They lost to a red hot Thunder team that completely outmatched the Spurs in game 7 of this second round thriller of a series. The loss for the San Antonio Spurs could mark the end of a tremendous era by the “Big 3” of Tony Parker, Manu Ginobli and future Hall-of-Famer, Tim Duncan. For the past twelve years, the San Antonio Spurs have been a dominant force in the Western Conference, boasting numerous accolades such as: 4 NBA Championships, 5 Western Conference titles, 3 Coach of the Year Awards, 3 Finals MVP Awards and 1 League MVP Award. This past Friday could mark the end of a dynasty for the Spurs and it will change the future of basketball. After 19 seasons in the NBA, Tim Duncan may decide that it is time to move on from the game of basketball. The 15-time all-star’s retirement would mark the end of a brilliant career, not just with the Spurs, but in all of basketball in that Tim was also an Olympic Gold Medalist. As for Tony Parker, the ever so elusive point guard that has made a living spinning defenders heads with his brilliant passing, has a difficult choice ahead of him as well, choosing between chasing another title, or kicking the NBA bucket and calling it a career of professional basketball. The 4 time NBA Champ could go back to his home country of France where he could kick back and eat high quality French cuisine with his built up net worth of around $94 million dollars throughout his NBA career. Last but not least, Manu Ginobli, a legendary NBA sixth man, is stuck in the same situation as Tony Parker. With this loss, the San Antonio Spurs could lose three of their potential legendary players, leaving them with some major gaps to fill in their roster for 2017. After all the fantastic years the Big 3 has given the NBA, and after all they’ve accomplished, it may be time for them to settle down and have a life after basketball, but there is also the possibility of a comeback and what would be a historical run for an NBA Title in 2017.
